On Sunday, 23 June, parishioners from Rockdale, Goulburn and Armidale joined the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church in Singleton, NSW for a Mass and Procession for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. The day started with a Solemn High Mass at 10:00 am celebrated by Fr. Robert MacPherson with Fr. Benjamin Campbell as deacon and seminarian Joseph Manyeki as subdeacon. The Sisters of the Society of St. Pius X sang the Mass with the help of the their girls group, the Handmaids. The chants and the polyphony were magnificent. Fr. MacPherson spoke beautifully about this pillar of our Faith which is the Blessed Sacrament. He emphasised the effects of our belief in and reception of the Blessed Sacrament while also sketching the opposite effects of lack of belief and reception that is plaguing the Church today. At the end of the Mass the magnificent Procession of the Blessed Sacrament was formed. More than 100 faithful from more than 10 countries proclaimed their Faith and allegiance to our hidden Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Song after song rang out through the air as the procession passed through the suburbs of Singleton for 30 minutes. With the final benediction and reposition, all arose spiritually refreshed encouraged to carry Christ back out to the world among their relatives, friends, schoolmates and workmates. While the souls were thus refreshed, the bodies were beginning to fell the pinch of hunger. However, the parishioners of Singleton had prepared a magnificent barbeque feast to accompany the spiritual feast that came before. We extend our thanks to the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church for receiving and hosting us and we look forward to celebrating the Solemnity of Corpus Christi with them again next year.
